The "Floating" Look Made Easy
One of the most intimidating parts of buying a premium Acrylic Photo Frame is the installation. Unlike a regular hook, these use Stainless Steel Standoffs to create that stunning 3D "Floating" effect.
Searching for "how to mount acrylic photo frame"? You are in the right place.
It is easier than hanging a shelf. Here is how to do it in 10 minutes.
What You Need
- The Kit (Included with Aarohi Frames):
- 1x Acrylic Panel (or 2x for sandwich frames)
- 4x Stainless Steel Standoff Barrels
- 4x Screw Caps
- 4x Wall Screws & Plastic Anchors (Plugs)
- Toolbox:
- Power Drill
- 6mm Drill Bit (Standard for our plugs)
- Phillips Head Screwdriver
- Pencil
- Spirit Level (or a phone app)
Step 1: Position & Mark
Hold the acrylic panel against the wall where you want it.
- Buddy System: It helps to have a friend hold it while you check the level.
- Level It: Place the Spirit Level on top edge. Adjust until bubble is centered.
Mark It: Use your pencil to draw a circle inside* the 4 pre-drilled holes of the acrylic. These are your drill points.
Step 2: Drill & Anchor
Put the frame safely aside (on a soft surface!).
- Drill: Drill into your 4 pencil marks. Go roughly 30mm deep.
- Plug: Push the plastic wall anchors into the holes. Tap them flush with a hammer if needed.
Step 3: Mount the Barrels
The "Barrel" is the hollow metal cylinder.
- Take the gold/silver screw provided.
- Put it through the bottom of the Barrel.
- Screw it into the wall anchor.
- Tighten: Hand tighten or use a screwdriver to ensure the barrel is firm.
Step 4: Sandwich & Cap
This is the moment of truth.
- Sandwich: Place your photo between the two acrylic sheets (if using a sandwich frame). Use a tiny piece of clear tape on the back of the photo to keep it centered if needed.
- Align: Hold the acrylic up against the mounted barrels.
- Cap: Push the "Screw Cap" through the acrylic hole and thread it into the barrel.
- Tighten: Twist the caps clockwise until finger-tight.
Troubleshooting
- "The Cap won't thread!": Make sure the barrel is 90-degrees straight. If you drilled at an angle, the barrel might be crooked. Loosen the wall screw slightly to adjust.
- "Fingerprints everywhere!": Yep, that happens. Finish the job by wiping the front with a Microfiber Cloth.
